About Us
LOVE GOD | LOVE PEOPLE | SERVE THE WORLD
Our church can be understood through three declarations: LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE, & SERVE THE WORLD
WHAT THIS MEANS:
As we LOVE GOD, we will seek meaningful and creative ways to gaze upon the beauty of God in corporate worship.
As we LOVE PEOPLE, we will seek after the mysteries of God together in community with others and value those God puts in our life.
As we SERVE THE WORLD, we will strive to be agents of light and hope in a fractured and hurting world both locally and internationally..
WHAT THIS ALSO MEANS:
When you worship with us, we want you to feel comfortable and to be who you are. There is no dress code at Central. When you visit our church, you are our guest. Our deepest prayer is that you will feel loved valued and welcomed as we worship God.
Our Story
Like several churches, we are reimagining what it means to be a church in the 21st century while being located in downtown Springfield. We feel called to be part of the culture of downtown Springfield and we are committed to making a kingdom impact in our community. We are still in the process of realizing this deep hope we have for our church, but we believe our best days in ministry are ahead of us and not behind us.
Our Values
-
Worship. We strive to have a balance between traditional and modern, but truthfully- we are committed to doing all of our songs with excellence. Worship is so much more than the style of songs that are sung. It is about our response to a loving and gracious God.
-
Missions. Our church is committed to both international and local missions. We support several missionaries serving throughout the world. Each year we put on The Feast of Plenty (a Thanksgiving meal where we feed hundreds of people in our community) and Graham Mart (we provide families of the Graham school affordable access to quality gifts for Christmas).
-
Women in ministry. We have long been committed to ordaining women in ministry. It was a woman who first preached the gospel.
-
Generosity. Central Baptist has been immensely blessed throughout the years and we want to be known as a people who live open-handed.
