Worship Arts Internship

Purpose

The purpose of the worship ministry internship program is to provide additional support and momentum for the worship ministry at Central Baptist Church. It is also designed to equip the intern with the experience and skills needed for worship arts ministry.

Internship Term

The worship ministry internship term is 26 weeks, beginning at the time the intern is selected.

Description of the Worship Intern’s Role

  • Interns will place a priority on public worship and spend intentional time with God on a daily basis.
  • Interns will plan and lead worship in ways that help others worship, experience God’s love, know the story of Jesus, develop Christian values, and grow spiritually.
  • Interns will develop relationships with worship area volunteers and be able to relate to them on a personal level.
  • Interns will gain experience in worship ministry through interaction and training with the ministry staff at Central Baptist Church.
  • Interns will gain context by being aware of and occasionally participating in the wider ministries of the church.
  • Interns will be accountable first to the worship arts leader and then the senior pastor.

Interns will be expected to work 20 hours per week. While there may be some flexibility in the scheduling of those hours, the following times will be required each week:

  • Monday, 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM for Ministry Staff Meeting
  • Tuesday, 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM for Worship Band Practice
  • Wednesday, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM for Chancel Choir Practice
  • Sunday, 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM for worship at the Downtown Springfield Campus

OR

  • Sunday, 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM for worship at the New Berlin Campus

The worship ministry intern will also meet weekly with the worship arts leader for creative worship planning, will maintain the music library, will learn about worship arts technology, and may work with our sound/media infrastructure. As skill and comfort is gained, the Worship Ministry Intern will help create worship service media, produce CBC podcasts, and write and teach Bible studies for the band and choir.

The Worship Ministry Intern will be expected to lead worship services at the Downtown Springfield Campus and/or at the New Berlin Campus. This will consist of playing the guitar and/or piano as well as leading the congregation in singing. Other worship leading activities involve prayer, reading Scripture, and facilitating congregational involvement in worship.
